I got a new toy last night!

My new Dell Inspiron 1525 arrived & I am pondering the difference between emailing and paging.
I am slowly finding my way around the new programs, importing programs and transferring data. I love the larger screen, the full size keyboard and the graphics are fab! I was zipping around the internet last night after getting the basics set up, it is quick.
How is a page different from an email? I am not quite sure how this works. I was informed last week that I was out of my chain of command for emailing someone. Last night I was told by that someone I should page him if anything comes up. (I guess that’s a direct order.) He told me I was still within my work group communicating with him and that wouldn‘t be a violation of the chain of command. I am more confused than ever!
I was at a Culture Club board meeting last night, we are planning an event in a couple of weeks. It was interesting to hear some tidbits of gossip and rumors about what is going on with the city. Sometimes the activists have more insight than I do as a worker bee. City of Austin politics should be very interesting in the near future.
