It’s not that much fun when your driver is out of contention early in the race.
08/24/2003

Robby had problems all race long. A broken gear, a crash and he ended up just doing laps. Boy did the car look bad by the end of the night, no fenders at all on the front end. He ended up 35/43, not a good night for him. The surprise of the night was that Kurt Busch ended up winning the race. Yes, the same Kurt Busch that is on probation for the Jimmy Spencer incident.

Kurt Busch was taunted and booed at the driver introductions, a stadium of fans making noise. They were booing again during the victory lane presentations. I am sure it was a bitter sweet win for him. Nascar officials were keeping a close eye on him all night long. He spun Sterling Marlin out on 373 out of 500, and was told one more incident and you will be parked. Lap after lap the caution flag was out, Bristol is a short track with high banking and the wrecks just happen.

Finishing order: Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Dale Jarrett, Ricky Craven, Dale Jr. and Jeremy Mayfield in the top 10. (way to go Dale, it's been a while since he has been in the top 10.)
