Lots and lots of fingerprints.

I headed down to the big police building last night to do some volunteer work. They need to re-file all the fingerprint cards they recently scanned into the new digital computer that is linked to the national data base.
I have the correct clearance to do this work. The folks I am working with are the ones that did my background check & I came back clean. It is mindless work, just match the number with the file. I noticed something last night, if it is a female that is printed, there is a stamp put on the card saying female. There were bunches of them. There are also files that are think and full of information and some just have a little bit of paper. I guess the bad boys and girls are just really bad. Every once in a while you come across a note that says see file XXX for information. I am guessing this way they can keep all the information on one guy/girl with the bigger stuff they did. I didn’t look in the files, I just wanted to get the prints in the files.
I am going to head back down for a few hours tonight after work. I found it relaxing, no cell phones, no interruptions just a task to be done. I think a night or two a week will make a big dent in the work.
