Journalcon 2003, Reggie Fest, South Austin Culture Club and Construction

I didn’t update the past few days, I have been awfully busy with committees, meetings and such. Thursday was Journalcon, Thursday afternoon was the Bob Marley Festival, "{http://www.austinmarleyfest.com/" Friday was construction and today is shopping.

We had a long meeting on Thursday night but things are progressing nicely for Journalcon, I have been appointed treasure and have to keep asking about money issues. I guess that is my role for this event. Feels a little funny but I am OK with it. I think we will have a nice turnout and the meetings generally run smoothly. We have plenty of time, the event is October 17-19th.

Reggie fest I will be working the backstage area. I confirmed with one of the promoters on Thursday. I had talked to him at the music awards about the festival and he insisted I work the backstage area. It will be a lot of fun, a lot of work and there should be a good time had by all. The Reggie fest is always a big party back stage. I love the performers, I have worked with most of them for many years. I have only missed one festival since I arrived in Austin. I had a scheduling conflict last year and was in New Orleans that weekend and couldn’t change my plans. My friend had taken time off of work and could not reschedule. It was good to have a year off but I am missing one t-shirt and laminate.

The construction is going on as I type this morning. I have 6 men working in the back yard for the barn project. The trenches are dug, the rebar is being placed and I have to call the inspector for Monday. I don’t know what day we will get to pour the concrete but I am getting excited. I can’t wait to put my initials and saba’s paw print in the concrete. I have to have a marker don’t I?

I also have the South Austin Culture Club event coming up on the 22nd of April. I am handling the email registration and guest lists. I missed the last planning meeting but that is OK. I have my role there pretty set. I have done that for the past events.

I am heading off to the stores to do a little shopping for me today. It is time to get a few summer shirts and some shorts. My wardrobe from last year is looking a bit faded.
