Mike Helton made a bad call.
04/03/2003
“In other words, we made a mistake Sunday making a call in a scenario of something we had never seen before when someone took the lead of the race and then gave it back." Mike Helton, President of NASCAR.
At issue was the decision to return Matt Kenseth to the lead and give Kurt Busch and Ricky Rudd a lap back. Jeff Gordon, running second to Kenseth when the caution came out, had passed Kenseth and kept Busch and Rudd a lap down. But instead of Gordon keeping the lead, NASCAR put Kenseth back out front. And Busch and Rudd were allowed to make up a lap. Tuesday, Helton said that was the wrong call. He made a mistake, took the blame but the race results will stand.
Well it was back to the grind when I got back to Austin. I got in to late to do any work on Monday (traffic and construction) and headed back to the office on Tuesday. It was the 1st of the month so I was busy. I got home to a backyard all torn up and dirt moved to make drainage channels for the water. I knew I would have some landscaping to do but I wasn’t expecting this much. The barn is a lot bigger than I thought. With the middle wall out, it is a nice space. I have to make a few decisions in the next few days to finalize the project. Basically layout of the final project. I need to be careful with the decision, I will be stuck with it for years to come. I have scheduled the psychic brunch. It will be in April. Kramer and I finally came up with a date that would work. We kept landing on holidays so we changed it 3 times yesterday. Email to follow, we had 30 people last year, I wonder how many will show this year?
