I support my president and I support our troops.
03/20/2003

I have met George W. Bush a few times, when he was Governor of Texas. I have heard stories about he and his wife. I do trust George to do the right thing, from what I know and what I have heard, he is a stand up guy.

I was at the cop meeting last night when it was announced that the president was going on air in 5 minuets. He was announcing the start of bombing in Iraqi. I am a little nervous about this action, about going to war but I am convinced there is more to the story than is being released to the press. I don’t think this is a grudge, I don’t believe this is about oil. I believe this is about taking control of a country that has been run by a dictator with horrid results for the past 10 years. Saddam thinks he doesn’t have to play by the rules of society.

I am looking forward to the photos of the Iraqi people dancing in the street when they learn there oppression has ended. I look forward to the people telling us what exactly has happened to them over the years. Saddam has murdered, tortured and raped his citizens. He is a despot.

I have some friends and acquaintances that are deployed in the Middle East. I have worked with some of the boys from Fort Hood many time over the years in the concert business. They like to do security work on there weekends off. They get some extra pay and get to see the shows. I have a very good friend that I am sure is flying over the action right now. I will keep them in my prayers. I hope they all come home safe and sound. These are determined young men. I spoke to some of them last year after the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center and they were ready to be deployed. They have trained for this, they have made a career out of military service and they are prepared to go to war. They were more concerned for there family’s at home. They were concerned that we don‘t have the training, we don‘t have the experience and we are not prepared for war.

I had lots to say, do at the cop meeting last night. I did run into officer K. from the bad boys incident and he was awfully friendly. I didn’t mention our last meeting to him. I did get some insight into how the Street Response team works. I also found out it was not DEA last Tuesday, it was street response in the black gear. Hum, 2 sources that saw the actions swore it was DEA not APD. HUM, unreliable sources or just a little to excited for the details? We have a new Commander starting on Sunday in the Southwest Area Command. I need to get a little more information on him before I make any decisions. He seemed like a good guy, but I don’t know if he likes this Community Policing agenda. We will see what happens.
