Well, I pissed the Grammy people off again this year.
03/14/2003

One word did it, I told them NO. They didn’t read there memos, and the back stage is my area. I was working the Latin Artist Showcase at the town lake stage yesterday.

The line up was:
Del Castillo from Austin
Stampede from Dallas
Big Circo from Monterey Mexico
David Lee Garza y los Musicales from Poteet Texas

I had a lot of fun working with Del Castillo, there manager and the folks from Lone Wolf Records. I know the band and helped out scheduling the TV and radio interviews. They were the most requested talent for the evening since they had won all those awards on Wednesday night. I knew there PR person was tied up at a panel until show time and I had assured Sara in the morning I would “take care of her boys” for her.

I had to deal with a lot of egos last night. See I had the backstage area limited and the VIP section was for the sponsors. NARIS (Grammy folks), wanted to allow there passes to get into the food and beer. They didn’t contribute to the food or beer so they only got so many passes. I may get flack from this after the show but DAM IT, I had enough of them over the last 2 years. They radio station didn’t want to play by the rules and don’t try to pull rank on me. My decision was final and that was it. I did speak to the NARIS rep after the flack died down and we are still friends but we agreed we need to talk a bit more before next years show so we don’t have this kind of stress again.

I was going to head out to some of the showcases last night but I ended up hanging out with Saba. I had stopped home to check on him and I just didn’t feel like heading back out. I had the house to myself for a few hours and decided to take advantage of it. I will be back down at the stage tonight for Wayne Hancock, The Derailers and The Gourds.
