TX weather effecting NASCAR.
02/26/2003
I just read a story on NASCAR.com that the car haulers are having a little trouble with the weather here in TX. They are running into weather delays. Especially the BUSH teams, they raced on Monday and had to head back home, unload, reload the trucks and head on out to Las Vegas.
Most of North Texas was iced in the last few days. I 35 was shut down for over 6 hours last night. Motorists were stranded on the sides of roads, shelters were full. We just don’t deal well with this weather. It only happens every few years. I hope all the drivers make it safely out to the race. I hope they don’t get stranded on the side of the road. I am a little to far south to see them make there way out to Las Vegas, but that would be a nifty sight. The haulers are all painted so nicely. When I was in Phoenix for the race last year, we had a bunch of them parked in the hotel parking lot when I arrived, the garage was not open yet. I tried to get some photos, but they didn’t turn out.
I am thinking of heading out to Phoenix again this year. I will definitely get better seats if I go. I couldn’t see part of the back stretch or turn 3. Now Texas Motor Speedway will be high enough and by the start finish line. Oh can’t wait to go.
