I thought there was a fatality at the track: McDowell (00) hit the wall hard.

I had my hand over my mouth, watching as the car flipped multiple times and caught fire.
He managed to walk away from the crash, I was completely happily shocked as he waved to the crowd as he got himself out of the car. The safer barrier’s, the new car and the head and neck restraints worked just like they were designed. The clip is all over the internet, watch it if you didn’t see it on TV.
Jr. won the pole and followed by Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson. Robby nailed it with a 15th place at 187.931. Great work on the car, it was a bit off earlier in practice.
After an extended qualifying, I stopped and watched the Speed TV programs: Nascar Live, Trading Paint and Narscar Performance. I love to watch these shows at the track; it is a whole lot of fun. Kyle Petty had a good point during his show. McDowell was still moving when he hit the wall, although it was a spectacular wreck, it might show from the in car computers that Dale Jr. may have hit harder the other week when he hit the inside wall entrance without the safer barriers. It will be interesting to see what the tech research says when it is completed.
I got to see two of my hero’s: Chad Knaus and Bootie Barker. These are two of my favorite crew chief’s. They are so talented, such smart men. Technically savvy and they do look good on camera. I couldn’t watch the whole show, I had to head to the airport to pick up brother and headed back to the hotel.
It should be a bit warmer today, I ended up buying a jacket at the track yesterday, I didn’t bring a warm one with me and I needed it. It did warm up for a bit during practice. The nice thing was there was no grumbling about tires. It seems some of the spring/shock packages need adjusting. Practice and Happy hour should be a lot of work today for the teams, lots of tweaking need to be done to get theses cars up to speed.
I am heading out shortly, stopping to grab breakfast and then heading back to the track. It is the Nationwide race this afternoon: Robby is driving the #22 car today.
