Happy Travels Today.
12/29/2007

I managed to get to see the dolphins and the manatees today.

Dad and I headed out this morning to Tarpon Springs. I wanted to pick up some sponges, some olive oil soap and have some real Greek food. It was a lovely afternoon. I enjoy watching the sea critters, they are so neat.

We headed to dinner with my step sister and her kids, her new boyfriend and Step mom and Dad. I haven’t seen my step sister is years. I think the last time I saw her kids they were just toddlers. Now they are almost grown. I couldn’t believe how things have changed, but how they have stayed the same. It was interesting, a trip down memory lane.

I am heading out in the morning for the trip back to TX. I hope to make it across the pan handle, MS an AL by the time we stop next evening. I have my handy Motel 6 guide so hopefully we will find a place to stay along the way. It was bit tough to find a place the last couple of days.

I had booked with another hotel chain that was closer to Dad’s but when I started to check in things got bad: There was an additional charge for a dog. I had called ahead and oops they forgot to tell me that on the phone. I was going to over look that when I got to the room and it stank. I am not saying musty, I am calling it stinky. There was tile on the floor and that was dirty. I took the covers off the bed (Saba sleeps with me so I usually put a sheet for him on the bed when we travel.) and the blanket wouldn’t even make it to a donation bag for the homeless. It was even nastier than the smell in the room. I loaded us up and headed back to the check in desk, told them I wasn’t going to stay with them, I was greatly disappointed. I saved the receipt they gave me incase I have a problem with the credit cards. I plan on sending Super 8 a little email when I get back to the house.

I am looking forward to having some alone time to think about this past week. I need to make some choices for the near future. It’s the start of the New Year and time to make some plans.
