Yippee!

I finally got the OK to move. I have my Certificate of Occupancy; my barn is finally approved, no more inspections.
I spent Thursday and Friday getting the last of the correction list done. It was a race against the clock. I had called and asked for a Friday afternoon inspection, but there weren’t enough scheduled, so the inspector showed up at 11:30. I was expecting another list of things to correct, preparing myself for bad news. I looked at him with disbelief when he said I was done. I asked twice if there were any other hoops I had to jump through. Nope, just finish up the painting and wait until Monday to order the gas meter. (It will take 2 days to get the gas meter installed.) There is an administrative hold due to 2 permits and it appears only the administrative folks know to clear it. I double checked to make sure I can move and he said yes, twice.
This morning I need to finish up painting the trim, I have one side left and then the eves. I was too loopy to go up on the ladder yesterday afternoon. I had started on the project at 6:30 in the morning and by 4:30 I stopped. I felt like I was on autopilot, and couldn’t trust myself to go up 24 feet to paint.
I took Saba to the park last night. I was too tired to deal with any of the SXSW crowds. It is the first time in well over 10 years I am not volunteering, working or partaking. I was making a couple phone calls to announce my news as Saba was enjoying the park. I realized when I called my friend C. back east that the weight was finally coming off my back. I realized now I can I get the second half of the dream started. I have the “for rent” sign ready and I will be putting it out today.
Once I finish up painting the trim today, I will be moving more of my stuff. I am going to hire some men to move the big stuff next weekend. I will need to clean up the front house and get some paint up on the walls. I figure if I hire 2 guys for the day, we can get every thing moved and get the painting knocked out in a day.
There will still be a lot of little things left to do on the barn, but once I am in, I can take my time. I will be able to get my social life back, have some time to just relax and not spend every weekend on the house. I can’t wait!
