Brother found, Academy first night and a few work snafus.

Ok, so the new site job gave brother a cell phone but forgot to give him the codes to change the message. I did call brother, I did have the right number after all, he just couldn’t get the messages and it wasn’t his voice on the phone. That has all been taken care of now. He doesn’t like the new job at first glance, he figures it will be a 3 year project instead of a 2 year project. He was a bit disheartened last night on the phone.
Tuesday night I attended the first of 13 classes of the Citizens Police Academy. The program has been in existence for 7 years, we are the 26th class. It was the usual first night stuff, lots of housekeeping. Some of the questions and rules boggled my mind: Don’t show up for your ride along drunk or with drinks. Why do I have to wear closed foot wear? (do you think you can chase bad guys in heels?) You will not represent yourself as sworn personnel of the department. (can I get a discount for that?) Clothing with offensive logos, letters or devices is prohibited. (sure lets just sport gang colors.) No, you can not take a camera along. The questions were somewhat funny but a little unnerving at the same time. They said they did a criminal background check on all the attendees, but I wonder just a bit about a few of them.
We will have speakers from the different departments come in and the outline of the course looks like:
Recruiting/Cadet Training
Internal Affairs/District Representative
Homicide/Sex Crime
Child Abuse/Robbery
Meet the Chief night (oops, I know him already)/Communications
Air One/Financial Crimes
Forensics
K-9/Narcotics
Community Liaison
Bomb Squad/SWAT
Graduation
Sounds like fun, almost like the Court TV/Cops all in one line up!
We now have high speed internet at the office! YAH! Thank you! It was a challenge getting there and a few missteps on the computer upgrades but we are up and running again. Don’t ya just hate when technology doesn’t work? Major frustration.
