New York City Yesterday-
07/18/2003
Hopped on the train and headed down to the city mid-day spent 12 hours there and do wish I could live there again.
I went to see Times Square, it is different then when I lived here many years ago. No more porno shops, no more titty dancers, no more live sex shows. It has become a corporate America lots of name brand stores, lots of tourists. It is all cleaned up an gentrified.
I headed next down to china town. I did a little shopping and got myself a new backpack/purse. The one I have had for a few years is on its way out. I managed to snag a red back pack. I just love it! Lots of junk to look at and I stopped and had lunch in one of my favorite restaurants. I swear the wait staff has not changed in 10 years. I recognized 2 of the men from my many trips there when I lived in the city and in the suburbs. I headed over to little Italy after for desert. Um, I just love the food in NYC it is always so good!
I met up with Brett from CMJ for drinks when he got off of work. The CMJ office is just like the SXSW office, piled high with CD‘s and lots of rock posters on the wall. It did remind me of a cube farm with a view. We went to a palace called The Trailer for drinks. In the middle of NYC there is a bar that has the trailer park theme. Kramer would just love it! .
I met up with PK next at his new living quarters! Gosh is it swank! I love the location and his remodeling job looks wonderful. We headed over to a neat little barbeque joint for some grub and some chit chat. It is always nice to see him and get caught up. I managed to get on the 10:17 train and headed back to suburbia.
The plan for today: pick up the rental car, get the nails done, spend some time at the beach and head out to dinner with one of my girlfriends. I don't think I will head up to Yale.
