Morning already? Derek, Riley, Denny and David.
06/17/2003

Gee, I think I just got home. I headed out for a bit to eat and a little socializing and next thing I know its 2:30 in the morning.

Cranky and I grabbed a bit of Chinese food last night after work. She was heading off to dream land and I was on the way to visit a friend. My friend and I hung around, chit chatted and watched a little TV and decided to hit the town. Monday night in Austin? Antone’s of course.

It was Blue Monday and the swing club was out dancing to the extraordinary sounds of Denny Freeman, Riley Osborne and Derek O’Brien. The musicians were shining as I walked in the door, the sound was fabulous and the groove was there. I ended up seeing a bunch of friends and acquaintances. Chit chatted all night long and then ended up on the dance floor. Yup, I can still get the feet going although it is a little hard to do in TIVAS. I managed to dance with 2 musicians, a guy from California (boy was he a good dancer) and someone else I can‘t remember. It was lots of fun. David Holt joined in for the last set, have you ever heard that boy play and sing? By the time the band took there leave of the stage, I was ready for dream land. Not quite yet.

I haven’t been to one of the Monday night shows in quite a while. (Other then Clifford’s welcome home party) and did a little socializing with the band. Standing out on the corner of 5th and Lavaca at 2 in the morning. Catching up on gossip, catching up on life. For them it is just after work socializing but worker bees like me have to get up a little earlier. Oh well, some nights it is just more fun to socialize than sleep.
