A day off and the office is in shambles.
06/10/2003

I walked into the office for Monday morning and was expecting a little more of the Monday stuff since I took Friday off, but it was a mess. The copier was broken, the phone was broken and my desk was a mess. There are a few things I like to have in my work world. A copier that works. A phone that doesn’t hang up on people, A fax that does it stuff andAa computer that works. Not much to ask for but yesterday it was not in the cards.

Monday morning is the time I usually clean up the office. The day started cleaning, calling the copier people back. The new machine I ordered had been sold. No luck yesterday finding a new one. Found out that there was a part missing from the one we currently have that was causing all the trouble. I tried calling around for a new used machine but I guess everyone was having a Monday. Calls were not returned.

It just kept progressing like that all day long. I finally ran out of the office at 5:45 and meet Ms. Mc K at the house so she could check her email. See I had given her a key to use for the weekend but realized on Thursday morning that I was packing the computer up and taking it with me on the trip to the races.

I tried to order a pizza from one of the chain stores and guess what? After 6 or 7 years of ordering from this one shop the guy on the line tells me that I am no longer in the delivery area. He has to get special permission from the manager to deliver my pizza. I just told him forget it and threw the fridge magnate away. WTF? There shop is just about a mile from the house, they have been delivering to me for years and I just didn’t need any more hassles after the fun day I had at the office. I called the local place that is right around the corner and they were very happy to take my money and my tip.

When Ms. Mc K was done with the computer work, I asked her to leave. I just wanted to be alone with my critters. I didn’t answer the phone, didn’t want any more interruptions I just wanted to put Monday to bed. I watched the rest of the weekends race from PA and drifted off to dream land.
