Joe Jackson, The Presidents of the USA, Concrete Blond, Alejandro Escovedo & Reckless Kelly.

What a Phenomenal day!

I was working down at the Town Lake Stage again today. I got there early, my plan was to dump the car and head over to the convention center to see a panel with Evan Smith, Editor - Texas Monthly & Lyle Lovett - Vector Mgmt. When I arrived at the gate, one of the volunteers was slightly frantic, there was a problem back stage and they needed me to handle it. One of the band members was quite sick. Problem handled for the moment and I headed over to the panel. I enjoyed seeing Lyle, I got about 40 minuets of it in and had to leave early to go back to the stage.

I managed to see the sound check for Joe Jackson. They played one song all the way through and I applauded when it was done. Well, I was the only audience at that time so Joe took a bow for me with a slight giggle on his face. It was one of those neat moments that come along in this rock and roll life I lead.

It was a pleasure to work with the professional tour managers today. They are the unsung heroes of live music. Peter from Concrete Blond was one of the most professional I have worked with in a long time.

Cranky, http://crankyamy.com/, met me down at the stage. I had slipped her a VIP pass and had a backstage pass waiting for her. I had forgotten how special this is for most people, I have been working in various parts of music production for about 20 years and am just used to it. She and my physician got to be on the stage during The Presidents and Concrete Blond. It was a nice reminder of how special these event are. They were both glowing with that star struck look as they left the show. It was nice to be able to share this with a few close friends.
