OMG it was a day yesterday
Melt down on top of meltdown in the little office in South Austin. I walked into the office and all hell broke loose. One tenant claims he has fleas and slept in his car, one tenant can’t pay his rent because he spent to much on his vacation. Two tenants are on the verge of going to the padded cells. One should be asked to move out. I couldn’t figure out who was living in another place. Embarrassing to have to call and ask “who should be on the lease?”

TX Season tickets and Phoenix race.
I went ahead and paid for my Texas Motor Speedway tickets this week. The “invoice” came in the mail and I just decided the heck with it, and purchased the same seats. I do like the view and I like being on the start finish line. It is a little pricey but sometimes you just need something to look forward to.

Meetings and hate speak
I headed off after work to a hearing at the Police department last night, it was for the accreditation for CALEA, the professional standards organization. I was encouraged to speak at the meeting regarding my experiences as a civilian volunteering and working with the department. In light of my recent experience with our new commander aside, (those problems are being addressed). I went to the meeting to speak highly of the department.

NOT even a paw in the water!
We were headed to Blanco state park but ended up at Canyon Lake instead. Saba and I decided to head out of town and have a little fun yesterday. Since the race was Saturday night, we had a whole day to spare. I skipped church and we got on the road very early. We had been to Blanco State park before and enjoyed it but when we got to the gate…

It’s not that much fun when your driver is out of contention early in the race.
Robby had problems all race long. A broken gear, a crash and he ended up just doing laps. Boy did the car look bad by the end of the night, no fenders at all on the front end. He ended up 35/43, not a good night for him. The surprise of the night was that Kurt Busch ended up winning the race. Yes, the same Kurt Busch that is on probation for the Jimmy Spencer incident.

We are growing and race thoughts.
I just checked the stats for devota.org and we are getting more traffic week by week. Strange, I didn’t know so many of you were reading! Thanks. I can't wait until after JournalCon, the site will look a lot different.

A rainbow
I was waiting at a bus stop for my connecting bus when I look up and see the most gorgeous rainbow over south Austin. I don’t think many of the car drivers even noticed it. I called a friend of mine P to make sure he looked in his back yard when he got home to see if the pot of gold ended up there. He could also see it from his location in western Travis county.

Meetings, a goat and lunch tour today.
Not much to share from last night, I headed out the door to a meeting after work and then managed to get home before 10. I didn’t see much of an update about the Jimmy Spencer/Kurt Busch fiasco that was new this morning. I guess it will sort its self out over the next couple of days. Practice and qualifying should be interesting.

Nascar board to meet about fines and probation.
They should be meeting as I am typing. I saw/heard the tape from the in car on Kurt Bush, he was trying to flatten the tire of Jimmy Spencer. See http://thatsracing.com/ for details. Wonder if this will shed a little more light on the situation.

Jimmy Spencer fined 25K and suspended from NASCAR for the races in Bristol.
Yesterday afternoon NASCAR announced fines, suspensions and probation for both drivers. Reason: “actions detrimental to stock car racing” and fighting. The press I am reading is saying that there was a spin and a bump on the way to the garage. Kurt admits words were exchanged when he was still strapped in the car, helmet off. Kurt Busch ‘s team owner Jack Roush is going to appeal the probation. Jimmy will also appeal the fines and suspensions.

Robby Gordon comes in 6th & an “Altercation” after the race.
Jimmy Spencer and Kurt Busch had it out in the garage area yesterday after the race ended. There are lots of rumors and opinions flying around but nothing official released. What I can figure out: The drivers were bumping each other on the way to the garage. Kurt ran out of fuel in front of Jimmy’s hauler and rumor has it Jimmy smacked Kurt when he was still in the car. The Police are investigating, cars were pulled off the haulers for photos and the drivers are not talking. Robby offers to pay Jimmy's fines saying "he had it comming for a long time."

Lights out in New York, Eastern Canada….
I got a call from Cranky yesterday afternoon, I was busy at work when she called to say that the east coast was out of power. The Niagara grid went down. Talked to brother who works in power plants and he had some theories. He didn’t think the “lightning bolt” theory was plausible. Me neither.

Robby Gordon wins both road races of the season!
The race just ended and it was a dash to the pit as Rusty Wallace spun out just as his pit window opened. That was the move that kept Robby in front. He lead 30 of the 90 laps today and just kept going strong.

Short track Saturday night racing
The dwarf racers were at thunder hill Saturday night. I just love those cars, they are replicas of the 28-48 classics. I really want to try racing one of them I just need to figure out how to get a ride. http://www.texasdwarfcar.com/I think I can go from go-carts to those easily. Would be fun to play with one of them for a day or two.

Qualifying (sort of) and relocating.
I was watching qualifying last night when brother called. I missed most of the event but I can tell you Jeff Gordon won the pole. Robby Gordon was 0.898 seconds behind him but ends up starting 14th. I did see a replay of a wheel hop by Robby but not much else from last night.

Fridge is full.
I stopped at the grocery store last night after yoga. I meant to buy a few items. An hour later and a bundle of cash, the fridge is full. I am tired of heading out for dinner, I am tired of forging for lunch. My poor office assistant has had a challenge lately: “Devota, what do you want for lunch?” I don’t know, where are you heading today? What’s on the way? I just don’t know, just stop and get me SOMETHING. Problem solved last night.

Oh, change of plans...
I was looking forward to sitting down tonight and watching the recap of the Indy race but Speed changed the line up. The re-broadcast doesn't air here until 11:00 CST. I can't make it home to start watching it at 5:00. Hum what is a girl to do?

Midweek already. I can’t wait to watch racing tonight on the Speed channel.
Ok so I figured out why Robby Gordon faded back on the last restart, they took only gas and go and skipped the tires trying to get track position. Don’t think I agree with that call but hey, he got a top 10 finish. It is a road course this weekend so he should make some points and be in the top of the pack.

Kevin Harvick wins Indy, Robby Gordon showed well and Tony Stewart disappointed.
Cautions, fuel strategy and pit stop timing played into yesterdays race. It was an exciting race from start to finish. Tony Stewart dominated the middle of the race, his car was strong and moved up to the front quickly. I thought the Indiana boy had a chance to capture his dream of an Indy win. He had a bad pit stop and just couldn’t get back out in front.

Brian Vickers, gets his first Nascar victory & NASCAR dads as a voting block.
Synchronized spinning to end the bush race last night. Scott Riggs, the points leader in the Nesquik Bunny car came in 5th. The points race in the bush series is still within 100 for the top 5 slots: Scott Riggs, David Green, Jason Keller, Ron Hornaday and Brian Vickers. Great short track racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

176.294 miles per hour at Happy Hour, Robby Gordon is the fastest.
Robby has a lot a experience at Indy, I guess it shows. Some how I missed qualifying and practice today, I guess it was Yoga class or my long nap, thanks to dancing the night away at the Broken Spoke. Robby starts 13th tomorrow at the brick yard 400. My friend Br. Is up at the race, I wonder if he got to see practice and qualifying. I am waiting for the bush race to start tonight. Saba and I are heading for a quick swim and dinner.
