May 2003

Lots of bikers in town.
I headed down to Congress Ave after a lovely dinner with Tim B. last night. We got some work done on the JournalCon website then headed off for the fun and games.

My neighbors house is being torn down and I am greatly saddened by the news.
I had met Ms. Retha when I first moved into my house in 1998. She was good friends of the family I bought the house from. She was one of the nutty old ladies that lived down the street. We shared lots of Iced tea and neighborly chit chat. She used to stop me each evening as I walked by to check on the progress of the construction/remodel. She could see the men coming and going and hear the noise but couldn’t see from her kitchen window.

Three Days off in a row!
Wow did it feel great not to go into the office yesterday. I decided that there was nothing on my desk that needed immediate attention and had a lovely day with Saba and friends.

I am in Love.
I got a frantic call from P early yesterday morning. There are 2 things wrong with that, P is never frantic and he doesn’t wake up that early. He needed a big favor, he had someone special to pick up at the airport and he was going to be suck at work. There was no way to rearrange his schedule and I got chosen for the big mission. It was a late night run to the airport.

Short track racing, toads in the water bowl.
I headed down I-35 last night for the Saturday Night racing at Thundrehill Raceway. It is a short track 3/8 of a mile oval, paved and banked. They had Late Models, Street Stock and Trucks.

Dinner with Cranky and Kramer
OH gosh do these evenings get silly. We headed over to Hoovers to spend a gift certificate that expired on the 1st. Yummy the food was terrific as usual and there was laughing and giggling. I thought they were going to escort us out the door for being so noisy.

Dating dilemma
Ok so I have been in a funk since Sunday afternoon. I was surfing through some personals and imagine my surprise when I find someone I wanted to date on the site. His ad went up about a month after I met him. For some reason this feels like a slap in the face.

Lots and lots of fingerprints.
I headed down to the big police building last night to do some volunteer work. They need to re-file all the fingerprint cards they recently scanned into the new digital computer that is linked to the national data base.

Some days you just need to kill something.
OK so it was a paper target but it worked just fine. I had a frustrating day at the office yesterday, I was busy from the second I hit the door.

Fingerprints, handcuffs, court and pay pal.
Ok so I didn’t post this morning. I was trying to get the registration payment method up for Journalcon Austin: Web Writers Weekend. The registration should be up and running by our live date, oh 1 hour and forty minuets from now.

Big ouch this weekend.
I woke up Friday morning in pain. I have had back problems on and off since a car wreck in Arkansas. Sometime last week things just got out of whack. I made a call to the doc before 8:00 a.m. on Friday. I stopped off to see her mid day and felt a little better.

Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
Lots of movement in the Nascar world. The Winston cup teams are off for Mothers day weekend. There was some shuffling of drivers yesterday. Mike Wallace goes to the 01 Army car while Jerry Nadeau recovers. Shawn Parker goes to the 88 Dale Jarett as crew chief. Jeff Green goes to the 1 for Pennzoil Chevy.

20th reunion is on my mind.
Ok so its not until July 19th but I am obsessing already. I have contacted a few people I hope will attend and am dreading seeing others. It seems time has stood still in my mind.

Swimming, meetings and get-togethers.
I spent most of Sunday in meetings. I headed off to Church first thing then to Journalcon planning, next was the Sunday afternoon get together of web writers. I ducked out after and had a nice evening with Saba.

Checks bouncing, cranky people and an accident at the raceway.
Jerry Nadeau had a horrible crash during practice on Friday. He is currently in the hospital and there is little word on his condition. My thoughts and prayers will be for he and his family at church this morning. The race Saturday night was a little somber. The best sign I saw from the crowd read something like, Nadeau, and army of one, prayers from millions.

Barn Done, food bought and paperwork in process.
The guys finished the siding on the barn yesterday. It looks so nice. I can’t believe it is the same structure. I need to do a lot more but the big stuff is now done. I headed out to the big box pet store after work last night and managed to get all the critter food.

The list of things I need to do this week just keeps growing.
I have a lot of little things that are adding up to a full errand day. I need dog food, cat food and bird food. I can get those at the big box pet store. I need to restock the party supplies, we went through most of them on Sunday. I have to stop at the big box hardware store for some barn items and then I need to get some food.
