A fun couple of days of racing.

I headed out to the local track for Friday qualifying and racing.
It was the season ending spectacular weekend. It sure was a lot of fun to have a Friday night full of race cars and racers. I sat and watched as the qualifying laps were done, an exhibition of the southern Mods and then the Grand Stocks took the track for a race. The track, Thunder Hill Raceway, is a 3/8 mile asphalt track, but I thought I was at a dirt track for some of the night. The cars were going off track, through the infield, the back stretch and kicking the dust up.
There were 18 cars to start with Kenny Wright taking the field to the green flag, followed by Joe Aramendia, Carolyn Aramendia and Layton Carroll and James Aramendia. The whole race family was in spots two through five. The racing was hard, lots of contact with all the cars, some spinning in the infield, some in the turns. The Aramendia stable of drivers were fighting it out on the track. It came down to the last seven laps for the final restart. Carolyn, Homer Pitner, Terry Thames and Kenny Wright were battling hard for the checkers. Carolyn Aramendia took the win, followed by Homer Pitner, James Aramendia and Terry Thames.
I sure like the racing in the Grand Stocks: lots of cars, lots of action and it seems the drivers have a whole lot of fun. It keeps the race fans on there feet and cheering as the battles develop on the track. I was looking forward to Saturday Night racing; I knew it was going to be a lot of fun with a full field of cars and classes.
