Raceday Sunday.
11/07/2006

Brother and I headed to the track early in the morning.

It is always better to get there early, then to sit in traffic trying to get in when there are a hundred and fifteen thousand of your friends trying to get to the same spot.

I checked out the ‘clearance’ merch tent. Nothing for me, but I did tell brother about some clearance items he might have wanted. Nope he replied. I headed on over to watch the Speed TV Nascar this morning shoot. That was fun, lot of folks with signs and Kenny Wallace is always a hoot. I did back out of the crowd and get a couple of photos of Robby signing autographs. I managed to cut his head off on the ones I took on Saturday. I got a good couple of them for my screen savers at work. Yes, it makes the day go by quite nicely.

The race was exciting; Robby’s first pit stop, a competition caution was awesome! He was running in the top 10 and was hitting his marks along the race track. He started too slid back in the pack, but after the next round of stops he was looking much better. I was so excited to see him up front. Then my heart got broken again: the car ended up in the wall, the fuel filler wasn’t working and then it just went down hill and back to the garage from there. DNF for Texas, that just stinks, I know he had the car to do it, but Texas just seems to slip away from him. I just put my head down as he went behind the wall. The radio got silent, and then I saw the crew packing up the pit box and knew the day was over.

There wasn’t much excitement for me after the race, just a dash to the parking lot, watching the storms come in. Somehow we managed to get the race in on a cold, overcast Sunday in Texas. Brother and I headed out, stopped for dinner and then headed back to the crack hotel. It was an early flight for him and an early morning drive for me back home. Time to think, time to plan I love taking a drive, I allways feel better once I am on the road.

The "kids" were fine when I got home, the inspectors were here and left little notes, I failed all the inspecitons. Not all the work that was to be done got done. That will be this weeks project, get everyone back on track. I want to get the sheet rock up, but have to pass the inspeciton first.
