Dakar?! Were going international now.

Looks like Robby will be spending the New Years Eve in Spain and then heads to Africa.
Its official, on the RG website, he will be driving with the VW team. It looks like a whole bunch of fun. The race starts in Barcelona December 31st, the on to Morocco and ends in Dakar on January 16th. I am going to have to get my maps out; I don’t know the route off the top of my head anymore. I think this will be a great opportunity for Robby and it will give him a lot of international coverage. Great PR move buddy! By the way, you look good in baby blue.
Not a whole lot going on in my little world. It was a hellish day on Monday at work, lots and lots of customers. I didn’t get to sit down until 5:45 when it finally slowed. I came home and just crashed, I was tired.
Yesterday evening, I tried to be nice and it bit me hard. This lady walks in with her 20 something son right after 6:00 when the counter closed and demands a report. I tried to help them out, but she turned and got nasty with me. See she gave her son her car, it’s impounded somewhere and they were trying to locate it. “The officer just took the car keys and impounded my car, he wasn’t even driving” she said. I pulled up the son’s record, thought I had the right case, it was just a couple of days ago and it was a DWI. I said looks like someone got arrested for DRIVING when impaired. She went off on me: “he wasn’t driving; they shouldn’t have taken his car”. I replied, my report says there was someone driving. As the mother continues to get nasty with me, the son says, “no, that was the other night, I am looking for the Public Intoxication report from last night.” I reply I don’t have that one yet, it’s not in my system, I can’ help you. Officer F. took over after this and tried to get the real story out of the drunken 20 year old. He claims he was only sitting on a curb in the rain next to his car, he wasn’t driving.
Do you see what’s wrong with this scenario? First, the son’s license would have been confiscated for the DWI two nights ago. Second, why would he be sitting in the rain next to the car with car keys? Something is missing from what that brat was telling his mom. If the car was parked, they wouldn’t have impounded it. I guess I will get to see the duo again today. Officer F. paged the arresting officer to find out what happened to the car and the keys and to get a report number. At least we saved someone the other night: the car is safe in impound and the drunk wasn’t driving it without a license last night either. I can’t wait to see what the real story is. Oh, by the way lady, your anger should be directed at your son, not at me: I wasn’t the dumb schmuck that gave my keys to an unlicensed drunk driver.
