Ok so not quite a 3 day weekend
09/01/2003

I stayed home as planned on Friday night, I just needed to recharge my batteries. Went to yoga on Saturday and headed down to Thunderhill for short track Saturday night racing. Sunday ended up being a day of racing and rest.

Seems to me that my friends are getting hooked up this past month. I am feeling a tad lonely and just can’t seem to shake the feeling. As I headed down to Kyle for the races I was thinking it would be fun to have someone to share with, someone to hang out with and someone to talk to. I watched the heat races by my self and by the time the main events were on I was surrounded by kids. I had a group of girls on my right and a group of boys on my left. It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but it worked. The girls dad was one of the racers and they knew a lot about the tracks. The boys were with a neighborhood dad that didn’t know much about the cars or the races. I did a lot of explaining to my left and a lot of cheering to my right. The girls dad did well in his race. It was a fun reminder of how exciting it is to be young and learn new things. I was still a little saddened on the way home, no one in the passenger seat.

Sunday I just headed to church and home to watch the race, a normal Sunday for me. I enjoyed the action and there were a heck of a lot of cautions. Robby caught the wall and lost 2 spots in the points race, dam, another bad weekend for him. Then Terry Labonte(47), from Corpus Christi Texas won the Winston Cup race on Sunday, followed by 2 of the young guns: Kevin Harvick (28) and Jimmy Johnson(28). I did watch the bush race on Saturday and the ages of the top three were interesting: Brian Vickers (20), Kyle Bush(19?) then Michael Waltrip(40). I don’t know what the age thing has to do with it but I did note it was and interesting little fact. Do you realize Brian Vickers and Kyle Bush can’t even rent a car yet but can drive in one of the most prestigious series of stock car races? Strange.

Plans for labor day: work a little, (it is the first) grab a book and hunker down for the evening.
