Thunderhill racing
06/22/2003

Headed on down to the short track for Saturday Night racing. I dragged Cranky with me, it seemed the night would never end. The first race was filled with cautions and accidents it took over 2 hours to complete 75 laps.

One horrid accident. On the start of the first race, a photographer got tangled up in the cars as they spun out on turns 2-3. I just saw a big poof of dust and a body flying through the air. They told us later that he has a broken ankle and a broken rib. Looked a lot worse than that. Poor Cranky, she had to sit through all of this. She is a good friend.

The ROMCO racers (super late models) didn’t even take the track until after 10:00. The cars are fast, but the race still seemed to take forever,175 laps but thank goodness cautions counted during this race. It was a night full of cautions, spins and smashes. Eddy Wallace from Round Rock ended up winning the race. He was out front for most of the race. The number 5 car better learn to get out of the way. He kept interfering with the leaders and he was a lap down. I guess you have to learn some where but last night was not the night to be trying that stuff.
